A couple from Utah shared a video on Facebook showing a terrifying incident in Kenya in which three men armed with machetes attempted to rob them on a dirt road. Bryant Swenson said that he was driving to Kijabe, a town about an hour north of the Kenyan capital of Nairobi, with his wife Laura and another friend when they came across a white van in the middle of the road.
Three men were attempting to rob the van but the driver managed to speed away and the men turned their attention toward the Swensons' Toyota Land Cruiser.
As the armed robbers approached the SUV brandishing their machetes, Swenson started to back up so that he could close the windows before the attackers could get to them. Once the windows were rolled up, he sped forward, past the group of men, who managed to stick their vehicle as it left them in the dust.
As Swenson sped away, gunshots could be heard in the distance, which they believed came from a pair of armed police officers they had passed just before the encounter.
Swenson said that they were "thankful for the Lord's protection."
